The Interview:
When was your first sexual experience? At the age of 18.
When did you first hear of HIV/AIDS?
The first time i heard about HIV/AIDS was when i was in highschool.
What is your sexual orientation?
I consider myself pansexual which means not limited in sexual choice with regard to biological sex, gender, or gender identity.
What can we do to end the stigma that comes along with HIV today?
I believe if we all make an effort to inform ourselves well, and pass it on to our generation as we grow, in schools, tv, etc.. It would be easier to stop the spread of the virus, since everyone will know the risks that come with it and will also be more knowledgable on how to protect themselves.
Do you personally know someone that is HIV positive? I do.
What advice would you give to someone who is sexually active or at high risk of contracting HIV?
I will advise them to inform themselves very well about everything that has to do with HIV by doing their research on the virus and/or simply going on the internet. In addition, it will help understand and provide a variety of information on how to prevent it or live with it, and/or how to seek professional help, and the proper medication.
Does HIV scare you?
It doesn't, because i have informed myself about it and also because i got amazing friends who are positive and i know they live a great life like anybody else who's negative. Is something that you have to take care of, and thankfully now a days there's great medication to help anybody out.
Why do you believe safer sex is important?
It's really important because HIV has become HUGE and i believe if we all put effort into this cause it can deft. end for once and for all. There's many infections out there, SAFE SEX is definitely the way to go. Do it for you, and for your family, unsafe sex is never been worth the trouble.
Do you believe Miami has reliable and accessible resources for HIV/STD testing and safe sex education?
Miami has many places people can easily access to and get tested, many CVS pharmacys do free testing for FREE and there's also a lot of clinics that will get you tested for free as well and give you the right information you need to stay well educated about this issue.
What do you think contributes to Miami’s high HIV infection rates?
Miami is BIG CITY when it comes to tourist, party, and DRUGS. A place where anyone can get lost with it easily.. anyone could put something on your drink or offer you a bad drug where next day you wake up and can't even remember half of the night. That's when everything happens.. In Miami you gotta hang w/ the right people and be smart everything you go out, eventually you'll learn not to trust many.
Have you heard of PReP and if so what is your thoughts about this?
I read about PReP being an amazing new capsule, that helps prevent people that are negative from getting infected when having sex with someone who is positive. If i had a relationship with someone who is positive i would definitely ask my doctor about PReP and possibly try it out.
